Returned Alumni

Marlon was 5 years old when his mother died and he never knew his father.

Marlon came to A Sanctuary when he was 14 years of age and after he was in the juvenile “lock-up” for stealing cash from the administrators of the Children home where he lived for 5 years. He remained with us until he was eighteen (18) years of age during which time he participated in every program we offered.

When he was 18 years of age we found a residential job placement for him in a lumber company. Since then he has worked in several areas including window manufacturing, construction, cooking and gold mining after which he returned to A Sanctuary to work in building and ground maintenance.

Back at A Sanctuary, he has made significant difference in our ground maintenance, cooks on the cook’s off days and is highly missed by our children when absent.

Marlon says “It feels good to be back at A Sanctuary because that’s where I am at home. I know that I am with people who love me, care about my total well being, my maturity in the Lord and people who challenge me to reach my potential so I can take my productive place in society and be an example to the younger children here. A Sanctuary is my family. I am the youngest of four biological siblings, two of whom I know but I am close to neither of them. I do not remember spending many days with anyone of them. A Sanctuary is my family. Miss Glenn is my mother and Sir Romeo is my dad. When I witnessed my friend killed in a motor accident it was Ms Glenn whom I called for consolation and prayer in my devastation. When I was in threatening conflict with another worker and his father, far away from home it was Miss Glenn I called for prayer and to inform her in the event things had escalated. I am not alone. When I need the advice of a big brother I consult Barakaat, my A Sanctuary big brother. I have many sisters and brothers from A Sanctuary and we stay connected. I thank God for bringing me to A Sanctuary”.
